Abstract
The European dimension in education is clearly on the EU policy agenda. However little is known about what secondary schools are doing to deliver knowledge and understanding of the European Union. The study aims to bridge this gap in Bulgaria and to identify what works to develop students ‘understanding of the EU. The purpose of this study is also to analyze the used methods and educational forms; to identify major weaknesses and gaps that are observed in students' knowledge of European Union topics, as well as to outline steps and proposals for promoting students' interest in European Union-related topics and hence for effective teaching on European topics.
