Abstract

The paper examines the civic competences that students are expected to build during the secondary school education in order to be able to actively participate in the processes of a democratic society. The text contains recommendations about the pedagogical approach in teaching civic competencies at secondary schools. For the achievement of best educational results, the most appropriate are the interactive methods in which the student is an active participant in the learning process.
